AIIMS AIIMS Solved Paper-2008

  • question_answer
    \[=-0.3010\] and \[-{{\log }_{e}}[A]\] shows

    A)  linkage isomerism

    B)  geometrical isomerism

    C)  optical isomerism

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

\[\Delta G-ve,\Delta H-ve\] and \[\Delta S-ve\] show linkage isomerism. This type of isomerism is shown by the complexes in which an ambidentate ligand is present. \[\Delta G-ve,\Delta H-ve\] etc are ambidentate ligand as each of them contain more than one donor site. In the linkage isomerism, at a time only one donor atom of ligand is bonded to metal atom and hence, arises linkage isomerism.
