Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion: A quick collision between two bodies is more violent than a slow collision; even when the initial and final velocities are identical. Reason: The momentum is greater in first case.

    A)  If both Assertion and Reason are true and the Reason is the correct explanation of the Assertion.

    B)  If both Assertion and Reason are true but the Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion.

    C)  If Assertion is true but Reason is false.

    D)  If both Assertion and Reason are false.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Momentum \[\phi \] or \[\frac{1}{2}\left( \frac{q}{{{\varepsilon }_{0}}}-\phi  \right)\] ie, momentum is directly proportional to its velocity, so the momentum is greater in a quicker collision between two bodies than in slower one. Hence, due to greater momentum quicker collision between two bodies will be more violent even initial and final velocities are identical.
