Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion: Displacement   current   goes through the gap between the plates of a capacitor when the charge of the capacitor does not change. Reason: The displacement current arises in the region in which the electric field and hence the electric flux does not change with time.

    A)  If both Assertion and Reason are true and the Reason is the correct explanation of the Assertion.

    B)  If both Assertion and Reason are true but the Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion.

    C)  If Assertion is true but Reason is false.

    D)  If both Assertion and Reason are false.

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Displacement current is not the current produced due to charge carriers but it is due to varying electric flux with time. It is the current in the sense that it produces a magnetic field. The displacement current is given by \[\omega \] It will happen when charge on capacitor does not remain constant but changes with time.
