Examine the diagram of the two cell types A and B given below and select the correct option:

    A)  cell A is the rod cell found evenly all over retina

    B)  cell A is the cone cell more concentrated in the fovea centralis

    C)  cell B is concerned with colour vision in bright light

    D)  cell A is sensitive to low light intensities

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Cell A is the cone cell more concentrated in the fovea centralis, the region of keenest vision. It is located in the centre of the retina, in direct line with the centre of the lens and cornea. The acuity of an animals eye depends on the density of cones in the fovea. Cell B is the rod cell found at the peripheral parts of the retina. Rods are high sensitivity receptors for dim light.
