Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion: Anilinium chloride is pore acidic than ammonium chloride. Reason: Anilinium ion is resonance-stabilized.

    A)  If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)  If both assertion and reason are true but the reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)  If assertion is true statement but reason is false.

    D)  If both assertion and reason are false.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

It is true that anilinium chloride is more acidic than ammonium chloride because it form salt with water and liberate amine when treated with strong base \[{{C}_{6}}{{H}_{5}}NH_{3}^{+}C{{l}^{-}}+NaOH\xrightarrow{{}}{{C}_{6}}{{H}_{5}}N{{H}_{2}}+{{H}_{2}}O+NaCl\] Anilinium ion does not show resonance because charge dispersion at ring may involve pentavaleht nitrogen structure.
