    Assertion: Colored spectrum is seen when we look through a muslin cloth. Reason: It is due to the diffraction of white light on passing through fine slits.

    Solution :

    White light is formed from a combination of different colours of light. When observed through a muslin cloth white light gets split into its constituent colours while passing through the fine slits made by the threads hence coloured spectrum is seen, because of diffraction of light.
