    A) sporophyte

    B) gametophyte

    C) predominantly sporophyte with independent gametophyte

    D)                 predominantly gametophyte with dependent sporophyte

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Funaria is a bryophytic plant. Main plant body of all bryophytes is haploid, known as gametophyte it is an autotrophic, dominant phase and produces gametes. Union between male and female gametes generates a new, diploid phase, known as sporophyte. It is dependent over gametophyte phase and produces haploid spores. Spores on germination produce gametophyte phase.
