Conns disease is caused by the over secretion of:

    A)  ADH

    B)         ACTH

    C)                                         Oxytocin

    D)                         Aldosterone

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Conns disease is due to oversecretion of aldosterone, which may be due to adrenal cortical tumour. ADH (Antidiuretic Hormone) or vasopressin is secreted by posterior pituitary. It helps in reabsorption of water by renal tubules and thus, reduces the loss of water in urine. Excess secretion of ADH causes concentrated urine and high blood pressure. Oxytocin is also secreted by posterior pituitary. It helps in contraction of uterine muscles during child birth. It also helps in ejaculation of milk. ACTH (AdrenoCorticotropic Hormone) or corticotropin is secreted by anterior pituitary. It stimulates the adrenal cortex to produce corticosteroid hormones.
