    Cork cambium or phallogenis originated from cells of living primary permanent tissue. Cork cambium or phallogen is considered as lateral meristem because it cuts cells, towards outer side, called phellemor corkand toward inner side called phelloderm or secondary cortex. These cells form the bulk of tissue and thus, increase the thickening of the plant body.
