Directions for Question: The questions consist of two statements each, printed as assertion and reason. While answering these questions you are required to choose any one of the following four responses:

Assertion: Identification of cathode and anode is 1 done by the use of a thermometer. Reason: Higher is the value of reduction potential, greater would be its reducing power.

    A)  If both A and R are true, and R is a correct explanation of the A.

    B)  If both A and R are true, but R is not a correct explanation of the A.

    C)  If A is true, but R is false.

    D)  If both A and R are false.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Identification of cathode and anode is done by using ammeter. The liberated electrons at the anode after oxidation flow to the cathode side of cell. So the positive electricity flow from cathode to the anode.
