Analgesics reduce or abolish pain without causing impairment of consciousness, mental confusion, incordination or paralysis or some other disturbances of nervous system.              The given compound (A) is aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). It can be prepared by the reaction of salicylic acid with acetic anhydride as follows                           Aspirin is a non-narcotic analgesic. It inhibits the synthesis of chemicals known as prostaglendins which stimulate inflammation in the tissue and cause pain. As aspirin is effective in relieving pain so it is an analgesic.
