AFMC AFMC Solved Paper-2010

  • question_answer
A car is moving in a circular horizontal track of radius 10.0 m with a constant speed of 10.0 ms-1. A plumb bob is suspended from the roof of the car by a light rigid rod of length 1.00 m. The angle made by the rod with the track is (g = 10 ms-2)

    A) zero

    B) \[30{}^\circ \]

    C) \[45{}^\circ \]

    D) \[60{}^\circ \]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    If angle of banking is \[\theta \], then \[\tan \theta =\frac{m{{v}^{2}}/r}{mg}\Rightarrow \tan \theta =\frac{{{v}^{2}}}{rg}\] \[\Rightarrow \]  \[\tan \theta =\frac{{{(10)}^{2}}}{10\times 10}=1\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[\theta ={{45}^{o}}\]
