    B)  45 years

    C)   40 years

    D)  50 years

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

                     Let the present age of Dennis and his father be x andy respectively. Then \[x=\frac{1}{3}y\]                            ??.(i)                 and        \[\left( x-5 \right)=\frac{1}{4}\left( y-5 \right)\] ?....(ii) From Eqs. (i) and (ii) \[\text{y}=\text{45 yr}.\] Hence, required age \[=\left( x+\text{5} \right)=\text{5}0\text{ yr}\text{.}\]
