AFMC AFMC Solved Paper-2010

  • question_answer
A car can finish a certain journey in 10 h @ 48 km/h. In order to cover the same distance in 8 h, the speed of the car must be increased by

    A)  6 km/h

    B)  7.5 km/h

    C)  12 km/h

    D)  15 km/h

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

                     Let the increased speed be \[\text{x km}/\text{h}\] Then distance covered at a speed of \[\text{48 km}/\text{h}\]distance covered at a speed of \[\text{48 km}/\text{h}\] \[\Rightarrow \]                                               \[48\times 10=x\times 8\] \[\therefore \]                  \[x=\frac{48\times 10}{8}=60km/h\] Increase in speed \[=\left( 60-48 \right)=12km/h\]
