    The bone in the body is surrounded by periosteum. The periosteum comprises two distinct layer, a thin outer layer of fibrous connective tissue and a layer of osteoblasts. The osteoblast also called bone forming cells. Endosteum is the sheath of fibrous connective tissue similar to periosteum lining the marrow cavity of the bone. Perichondrium is the Sheath of white fibrous connective tissue covering the cartilage on outside. Chondrocytes : Cartilage cells are called chondrocytes. They are large, irregular cells occuring singly or more in spaces named lacunae in the matrix of cartilage.
