    Solution :

    Fats and oils are triglycerides of fatty acids and   simplest lipids. They are esters of higher monocarboxylic acids or fatty acids with glycerol. When the fatty acid units are predominantly saturated, the glyceride is solid at room temperature and is termed as fat. In case the glyceride contains unsaturated fatty acid units it is liquid at room temperature and is called oil.
