    Key Idea: Total momentum of boat + dog system is conserved. From law of conservation of linear momentum, momentum of boat = momentum of dog \[{{m}_{1}}{{v}_{2}}={{m}_{2}}{{v}_{2}}\] Given,              \[{{m}_{1}}=40\,kg\] \[v{{ & }_{1}}=?\,{{m}_{2}}=\,4\,kg,\,{{v}_{2}}=10m/s\] \[\therefore \]    \[40\times {{v}_{1}}=4\times 10\] \[\Rightarrow \]  \[{{v}_{1}}=\frac{4\times 10}{40}=1\,m/s\]
