    Bohr's theory was modified by:

    A) Rutherford and Soddy

    B) Planck

    C) Hund

    D) Sommerfeld

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

According to Bohr's theory atom consist of a tiny positive nucleus surrounded by negative electrons which orbit the nucleus like planets around the sun. In 1916, Somerfield enhanced the Bohr's theory of the atom by introducing non-circular (elliptical) orbits, by allowing quantized orientation of the orbits in space, and by taking into account the relativistic variation in the mass of the electron as it orbited the nucleus at high speed.
