  • question_answer
The energy of an X-ray photon is 2 keV, then the frequency (in per sec) is :

    A) \[3.2\times {{10}^{-6}}\]

    B)  \[5\times {{10}^{17}}\]

    C) \[2\times {{10}^{17}}\]

    D)  \[2\times {{10}^{18}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                     From Einstein's theory, the energy of a photon is given by \[E=hv\] where h is Planck's constant and v is frequency. Also, \[1\,eV=1.6\times {{10}^{-19}}\text{J}\] i.e.,         \[E=2\times {{10}^{3}}\times 1.6\times {{10}^{-19}}\] \[=3.2\times {{10}^{-6}}\text{J}\] \[\therefore \]      \[v=\frac{E}{h}=\frac{3.2\times {{10}^{-16}}}{6.6\times {{10}^{-34}}}=5\times {{10}^{17}}\] per sec.
