  • question_answer
The masses of two substances are 25 g and 89 g respectively. If their kinetic energies are same then ratio of their momemums is :

    A)  9 : 5

    B)  7 : 3

    C)  5 : 9

    D)  none of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Kinetic energy is the energy that a body has as a result of its speed or energy of motion. Kinetic energy of a body \[=\frac{1}{2}\,m{{v}^{2}}\]      ?(i) where, m is the mass and v the velocity. Momentum (p) = mv               ... (ii) Squaring Eqs. (ii) and rearranging the terms with help of Eq. (i), we have \[p=\sqrt{2mK}\] \[\therefore \]                 \[{{p}_{1}}=\sqrt{2\times 25\times K}\]                 ?(iii)                   \[{{p}_{2}}=\sqrt{2\times 81\times K}\]               ?(iv) Dividing Eqs. (iii) by (iv), we have \[\frac{{{p}_{1}}}{{{p}_{2}}}=\sqrt{\frac{25}{81}}=\frac{5}{9}\]
