    Data regarding number of foreign students (males” females) from different countries- A, B, C, D and E, taking in higher level education in the country XYZ in the year 2014.
    Total number of foreign students (males “ females) = 9000
    Foreign Female Students = 3500
    Male students from country E in the year 2015 were 20% more than those from the same country in the previous year. If the male students from country E constituted 60% of the students (males “ females), in the year 2015, how many foreign students from country E in the same year were females?

    A) 1400

    B) 1480

    C) 1280

    D) 1220

    Solution :

    (c) Male students from country E in 2014 = 1600 \[\therefore \] Male students from country E in 2015 \[=\frac{1600\times 120}{100}=1920\] \[\therefore \] Total students from country E in 2015 \[=\frac{1920\times 100}{60}=3200\] \[\therefore \] Female students \[=3200-1920=1280\]
