  • question_answer
Of the three numbers, the first number is twice of the second and the second is thrice of the third number. If the average of these 3 numbers is 20, then the sum of the largest and smallest numbers is

    A) 24

    B) 42

    C) 54

    D) 60

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let the third number be x. \[\therefore \] Second number = 3x and first number = 6x \[\therefore \]      \[6x+3x+x=3\times 20\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[10x=60\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=6\] \[\therefore \] Required sum \[=6x+x=7x\]             \[=7\times 6=42\]
