    In order to make a profit of 10% what should have been the gross traffic receipts (in Rs. crores) in 2007-08, total expenditure remaining the same?

    Solution :

    Profit per cent \[=\frac{\text{Gross Traffic Profit}-\text{Total expenditure}}{\text{Gross Traffic Profit}}\times 100\] \[\therefore \] According to question, \[10=\left[ 1-\frac{\text{Total expenditure}}{\text{Gross traffic profit}} \right]\times 100=1-\frac{10}{100}=0.9\] According to question, Total expenditure = 5800 \[\therefore \] Gross traffic profit \[=\frac{5800}{0.9}=Rs.6444\,\,crore\]
