How are mountains useful to man?          

Answer:

Mountains are useful, to man in following ways :

(i) The mountains are a storehouse of water.

(ii) Reservoirs are made and the water is harnessed for the use of people.

(iii) Water from the mountains is also used for irrigation and generation of hydro-electricity.

(iv) The river valleys and terraces are ideal for cultivation of crops.

(v) The forests in the mountains provide fuel, fodder/ shelter and other products like gum, raisins/ etc.

(vi) It provides an idyllic site for tourists.
