Direction: In the question given below three statements are followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts. Read the conclusions and decide which conclusion logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts and give answer.
Statements:  No car is an airplane. All airplanes are cycles. All cycles are scooters. Conc. : I        Some cycles are not cars.   II       All scooters being airplanes is a possibility.

    A)  if only conclusion II follows.

    B)  if both conclusions I and II follow.

    C)  if neither conclusion I nor II follows.

    D)  if either conclusion I or II follows.

    E)  if only conclusion I follows.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

No car is an airplane (E) + All airplanes are cycles (A) = E + A = O* = Some cycles arc not cars (O*). Hence conclusion I follows. Again, All airplanes are cycles (A)+ All cycles are scooters (A) = A + A = A = All airplanes are scooters (A). But the possibility in II exists. Hence conclusion II follows.
