The average age of 30 men is 25 years. If the age of one more man is added to it, the average increases by 2 years. What is the age of the new man?

    A)  87 years

    B)  82 years

    C)  93 years

    D)       95 years

    E)  85 years

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Let the age of the new man be x years. According to the question, total age of \[\text{30 men=30}\times \text{25 years}\] Again, according to the question, \[\frac{30\times 25+x}{31}=(25+2)\] Or, \[x=31\times 27-30\times 25=837-750\] \[\text{=87 years}\] Hence the age of the new man is 87 years. Logical Approach: New man's age \[=31\times 2+25=62+25=87years\]
