    Solution :

     Let the total maximum marks be x. According to the question, \[5%\,\,\,of\,x=1034-940\] \[\Rightarrow \frac{x\times 5}{100}=94\] \[\therefore \,\,x=\frac{94\times 100}{5}=1880\]
