    Solution :

    Maximum marks = x, then Given, pas marks \[=x\times \frac{30}{100}+15\] \[=x\times \frac{40}{100}-35\Rightarrow 3x+150=4x-350\] \[\therefore \,\]    \[x=150+350=500\] \[\therefore \] Pass marks \[=500\times \frac{3}{10}+15=165\] \[\therefore \] Necessary percentage for passing \[=\frac{165}{500}\times 100=33%\]
