    The difference between the SI and discount on a certain sum of money for 6 months at 6% per annum is Rs. 27. Find the sum.

    Solution :

    Let the sum be Rs. x. Then, SI = Rs. \[\left[ \frac{x\times 6\times \frac{1}{2}}{100} \right]\]= Rs.\[\frac{3x}{100}\] and TD = Rs. \[\left[ \frac{x\times 6\times \frac{6}{12}}{100+6\times \frac{6}{12}} \right]\] = Rs. \[\frac{3x}{100}\] \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{3x}{100}-\frac{3x}{103}=27\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[309x-300x)=(27\times 100\times 103)\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{(27\times 100\times 103)}{9}=30900\] \[\therefore \]      Sum = Rs. 30900
