If 378 coins consist of rupees, 50 paise and 25 paise coins whose values are in the ratio of 13 : 11 : 7. The number of 50 paise coins will be

    A)  132

    B)  128

    C)  136

    D)  133

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Since, the values of rupees, 50 paise and 25 coins are in the ratio 13 : 11 : 7. \[\therefore \]The value of rupees coins = Rs. 3x and the value of 50 paise coins = Rs. 11x Also, the value of 25 paise coins = Rs. 7x Thus, the number of coins of rupees, 50 paise and 25 paise are 13x, 22 x and 28x, respectively. \[\therefore \]      \[13x+22x+28x=378\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[x=\frac{378}{63}=6\] \[\therefore \]The number of coins of 50 paise \[\,=22\times 6=132\]
