A shopkeeper buys a watch for Rs. 400. He marks 25% more on the watch, than the cost price. He allows 12% discount at the marked price. What is the percentage of profit?

    A)  11%

    B)  13%

    C)  15%

    D)  10%

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Cost price of watch = Rs. 400 \[\therefore \]Marked price of watch\[=\frac{125}{100}\times 400=\]Rs. 500 After 12% discount. Selling price of watch\[=\frac{(100-12)}{100}\times 500\]      \[\,=\frac{22}{25}\times 500=\]Rs. \[\therefore \]Per cent profit\[=\frac{(440-400)}{400}\times 100\] \[=\frac{40\times 100}{400}=10%\]
