    A sum of Rs. 1550 was lent partly at 5% and partly at 8% simple interest. After 3 yr a total interest of Rs. 300 was received. How much amount was lent at 8%?

    Solution :

    Let sum lent at 8% = Rs. x \[\therefore \]Sum lent at 5% = Rs.\[(1550-x)\] Given,\[\frac{x\times 3\times 8}{100}+\frac{(1550-x)\times 3\times 5}{100}=300\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{8x}{100}+\frac{(1550-x)\times 5}{100}=100\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[8x-5x+7750=10000\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3x=10000-7750=2250\] \[\therefore \]\[x=\frac{2250}{3}=750\]
