    Solution :

     Let the number of boys be x and number of girls be y in a class. Then \[16.8=\frac{17.4x+16.4y}{x+y}\] \[16.8x+16.8y=17.4x+16.4y\] \[0.4y=0.6x\] \[\frac{x}{y}=\frac{2}{3}\]therefore required ratio  \[x:y\,\,=\,\,2:3\]
