    A, B and C started a business together. The respective ratio of investments of A and B was 3 : 5 and the respective ratio of investments of B and C was 10 : 13. If at the end of the year C received Rs. 5876 as his share of annual profit, what was the total annual profit earned by all of them together?

    A) Rs. 13108

    B) Rs. 12756

    C) Rs. 13224

    D) Rs. 12984

    E) Rs. 12188

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Given, A : B = 3 : 5 = 6 : 10
    and                   B : C = 10 : 13
    \[\therefore \]      A: B: C = 6: 10: 13
    Ratio of share of annual profit of A, B and C
    = Ratio of investment of A, B and C = 6 : 10 : 13
    Let shares of annual profit of A, B and C be 6x, 10x and 13x, respectively. Then,
    13x = 5876
    \[\Rightarrow \]               \[x=452\]
    \[\therefore \] Total amount of profit earned by them
    \[=6x+10x+13x\]
    \[=452\times 29=Rs.\,\,13108\]
