Directions: Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer.                                                             [FCI (Assistant) Grade III 2015]
Find the radius (r) of the circle.
    I. Area of the circle is \[154\,\,c{{m}^{2}}.\]
II. Circumference of the circle is 2/r tunes of the area of the circle.

    A) If the data in the statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question

    B) If the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question

    C) If the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question

    D) If the data in both statements I and II even together are not sufficient to answer the question

    E) If the data in both statements together are necessary to answer the question

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

From statement I, where r is radius of circle.
We know that, area of circle \[=\pi {{r}^{2}}\]
    Area of circle \[=154c{{m}^{2}}.\]
    \[\therefore \]      \[154=\pi {{r}^{2}}\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[154=\frac{22}{7}\times {{r}^{2}}\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[{{r}^{2}}=\frac{154\times 7}{22}=7\times 7\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[r=7\,cm\]
Hence, data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
