II. During the second year the population decreased but again increased by 5% in third year.

    A) If the data in the statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question

    B) If the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question

    C) If the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question

    D) If the data in both statements I and II even together are not sufficient to answer the question

    E) If the data in both statements together are necessary to answer the question

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    From statements I and II,
    Present population of a town = 100000
    Population after one year
    \[=100000+100000\times \frac{10}{100}=101000\]
But here it is not clear that in how much per cent population decrease in second year. So, we are unable to find the answer.
Hence, data in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the questions.
