Solution :

Given, \[2x+y=35\]

\[\Rightarrow \]\[4\,\,(2x+y)=4\times 35\]                          (i)

\[\Rightarrow \]\[8x+4y=140\]                              (ii)

and       \[3x+4y=65\]

On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get

On putting \[x=15\] in Eq. (ii), we get

\[3\times 15+4y=65\]

\[\Rightarrow \]   \[45+4y=65\]

\[\Rightarrow \]   \[4y=65-45=20\]

\[\Rightarrow \]               \[y=5\]

\[\therefore \]                  \[x/y=\frac{15}{5}=3\]
