    A) 23 yr

    B) 40 yr

    C) 27 yr

    D) 44yr

    E) None of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Let the ages of A and B 10yr before be 13x yr and 17x yr, respectively.
    Then, present age of \[A=13x+10\]
    and present age of \[B=17x+10\]
    According to the question,
    \[\frac{13x+10+17}{17x+10+17}=\frac{10}{11}\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{13x+27}{17x+27}=\frac{10}{11}\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[143x+297=170x+270\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[27x=27\]
    \[\therefore \]      \[x=1\]
Hence, present age of \[B=17\times 1+10=27\,\,yr\]
