If Rs. 510 is divided among A, B, C in such a way that A gets 2/3 of what B gets and B gets \[\frac{1}{4}\]of what C gets, then their shares are respectively

    A) Rs. 126, Rs. 240, Rs. 150

    B) Rs. 60, Rs. 90, Rs. 360

    C) Rs. 150, Rs. 300, Rs. 60

    D) None of the above

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let the share of C = x
    Then, share of \[B=\frac{1}{4}x\]
    Share of A \[=\frac{2}{3}\times \frac{1}{4}x=\frac{1}{6}x\]
    Now, \[x+\frac{1}{4}x+\frac{1}{6}x=510\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[12x+3x+2x=510\times 12\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[17x=510\times 12\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[x\frac{x}{200}=1\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\text{Rs}.\,\,360\]
    B's share \[=\frac{1}{4}\times 360=Rs.\,\,90\]
    A's share \[=\frac{1}{6}\times 360=Rs.\,\,60\]
