    To make it a perfect cube, first we find the nearest cube of given number

    \[{{12}^{3}}=12\times 12\times 12=1728\]
    \[\therefore \]      It is clear that \[1720<{{(12)}^{3}}\]
    Required number \[=1728-1720=8\]
    \[\therefore \] 8 must be added to 1720, to make it a perfect cube.
