    A) 1500

    B) 1000

    C) 1200

    D) Cannot be determined

    E) None of the above

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

let the maximum aggregate marks be \[x.\]
    Passing percentage \[=\frac{975}{x}\times 100\]
    \[\therefore \]Failing percentage \[=7\]%
    i.e.  7%\[\times \,x\,=\,975\,-870\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{7}{100}\times x=105\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]\[x=\frac{105\times 100}{7}=1500\]
