    Solution :

    I. This statement atone is not sufficient to furnish the answer.
    II. Let the number be x.
    Then,    \[x-\frac{3}{4}x=14\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{x}{4}=14\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[x=56\]
    So, statement II alone is sufficient to furnish the answer.
