    In a number of two digits, units place digit is 2 more than the tens place digit. Four times the sum of digits is 3 less than the number, then the number is

    A) 35

    B) 57

    C) 46

    D) 68

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Let unit's place digit be x and ten's place digit be y.
    \[\therefore \] Number \[=10y+x\]
    According to the question,
                \[x-y=2\]                       … (i)
    and       \[4(x+y)=10y+x-3\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3x-6y=-3\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x-2y=-1\]                    … (ii)
    On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get
    x = 5 and y = 3
    Hence, number \[=10y+x\]
                            \[=10\times 3+5=35\]
