Direction: Read the following and answer the questions that follows.
Codominance is a relationship between two versions of a gene. Individuals receive one version of a gene, called an allele from each parent. If the alleles are different, the dominant allele usually will be expressed, while the effect of the other allele called recessive is masked. In codominance, however neither allele is recessive and the phenotypes of both alleles are expressed. An example in humans would be the ABO blood group, where allele A and allele B are both expressed. So, if an individual inherits allele A from their mother and allele B from their father, they have blood type AB.
Percentage of blood groups in India is given in the diagram below.
Choose the correct option from the given statements.

    A) Only 10% of individuals are heterozygous for blood group allele

    B) Group A is the most common as it is the homozygous recessive group

    C) The alleles for blood groups A and 0 are dominant to the allele for blood group B

    D) Any individual, selected at random from the sample population, has a 1 in 20 chance of being blood group AB

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Any individual, selected at random from the sample population, has a 1 in 20 chance of being blood group AB
