In a classroom discussion, students had to discuss about the direction indicators that were used in shipping corporation, long time ago.

How they decided that in which direction the ship has to be moved in the long distance journey. No one had deep knowledge in the classroom except

Shanu. He wanted to explain about the direction indicators used by the ship before several years.

But, the noise was interrupting him in explaining the things.

(i) What should be done by Shanu, so that he can explain the things?

(ii) What is magnetic compass and how it is used?

Answer:

(i) Shanu should make every student speak one by one without interrupting the others. So, that major points can be collected out form the discussion and a conclusion could be made.

(ii) A-compass is an device to find the direction with the help of Earth's magnetic field. It consist of a small magnetic needle which is free to turn in any direction.

Therefore, in the presence of a magnetic field the, needle in able to line up in the same direction as the field.
