A simple oscillator has an amplitude A and time period T. The time required by it to travel from x = A to \[x=\frac{A}{2}\] is :-

    A)  \[\frac{T}{2}\]

    B)  \[\frac{T}{3}\]

    C)  \[\frac{T}{4}\]

    D)  \[\frac{T}{6}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    \[x=A\,\,\cos \omega t\] but \[x=\frac{A}{2}\] so \[\frac{A}{2}=A\,\cos \frac{2\pi }{T}\,t\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{2\pi }{T}\,t=\frac{\pi }{3}\Rightarrow t=\frac{T}{6}\]
