    A)      \[6\]

    B)  \[6\frac{1}{2}\]

    C)  \[6\frac{2}{3}\]

    D)  \[6\frac{3}{4}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    In 40 L mixture Quantity of milk \[=\frac{7}{8}\times 40=35\,\,\text{L}\] Quantity of water = 5 L Let x L of water be mixed \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{35}{5+x}=\frac{3}{1}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3x+15=35\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3x=20\] \[\therefore \]      \[x=\frac{20}{3}=6\frac{2}{3}\text{L}\]
