    Solution :

    Let the numbers be x and y. \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{1}{4}x=\frac{5}{8}y\]and\[x+36=4y\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[x=\frac{5}{2}y\] and   \[x=4y-36\]\[\therefore \]\[y=24\]
