A two digit number is seven times the sum of its digits. If each digit is increased by 3, the number thus obtained is more than six times the sum of its digits by 6. Find the number.

    A)  36

    B)  63

    C)  18

    D)  Data inadequate

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Given expression, \[10x+y=7\,\,(x+y)\] \[x-2y=0\] \[\therefore \]      \[x=2y\]                                                ?(i) When each digit increased by 3, \[10\,\,(x+3)+(y+3)=6\,\,(x+3+y+3)+6\] \[4x-5y=9\] From Eq. (i), \[8y-5y=9\] \[y=3,\]\[x=6\]             \[\therefore \] The given number is 63.
