What is the solution of the equation \[x-y=0.9\]and\[11{{(x+y)}^{-1}}=2?\]

    A)  \[x=3.2\]and \[y=2.3\]

    B)  \[x=1\]and \[y=0.1\]

    C)  \[x=2\]and \[y=1.1\]

    D)  \[x=1.2\]and \[y=0.3\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Given,   \[x-y=0.9\]                                ...(i) and       \[11\,\,{{(x+y)}^{-1}}=2\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2x+2y=11\]                            ...(ii) On multiplying Eq. (i) by 2 and adding Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get \[4x=12.8\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[x=3.2\] From Eq. (i), \[y=3.2-0.9=2.3\] \[x-2.3=9\] \[\therefore \]      \[x=3.2\]
